Food, Friends and Running: A Belgrade Adventure

Between jet-lag and a late night, most of my fellow Monsooners decided to sleep in this morning. I woke up at 9:00, which for me is still sleeping in, and decided to go for a run through the city. I haven't gone for a run in a while so anticipated a short one or two mile run. But once I got started, it just felt right so the next thing I knew I was doing a four mile run with some sprint intervals and hills training.

One thing you get used to if you're "visibly" trans or gender ambiguous is random people staring at you. People will give you confused, disgusted, annoyed, and/or angry looks when they can't tell if you are a man or a woman. It's part of my daily reality, no matter where I am - home or travelling.

Yesterday I said my goodbyes to Budapest before hopping on a bus to Novi Sad, Serbia. Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia, and is the capital of the Serbian autonomous region of Vojvodina.
